Princess of Wales quits playing Prince Harry peacemaker, 'finally threw up her hands

For years, many royal sources have long insisted that Catherine, Princess of Wales wanted to play the role of peacemaker in the rift between Prince William and Prince Harry. However, after battling cancer last year, Catherine's priorities have shifted away from mending relationships towards protecting her family and the future of the monarchy.

Christopher Anderson, a royal expert and author, recently spoke to Fox News Digital about Catherine's current mindset regarding the feud between the brothers. Anderson claimed that the idea that Catherine had the time and energy to continue trying to broker peace between William and Harry for years is simply not accurate anymore. After fighting cancer, Catherine is understandably more focused on her health and family above all else.

"She tried for years to be a peacemaker but finally threw up her hands in disgust. She did her job but it wasn't enough to build a bridge between William and Charles on the one hand, and Harry on the other," Anderson stated. The conflict between the brothers has dragged on for so long that Catherine has moved on from actively getting involved, instead prioritizing supporting her husband William as the future King and helping her father-in-law, King Charles III, in his new role.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams agreed with this assessment, saying that Catherine is no longer playing peacemaker due to more pressing concerns. The bombshell claims made by Harry in his memoir 'Spare' and interviews with Oprah Winfrey have undoubtedly caused long-lasting damage to his relationship with William and Charles that Catherine was previously trying to mend. However, the accusations have now been made public and cannot be taken back. While the rift may resurface in headlines from time to time, at least Harry is not actively promoting further damaging revelations currently.

Still, sources say Harry's attempts to contact his father and brother have been ignored for some time now. Reports in March stated that calls and letters from Harry to King Charles went unanswered. His texts, calls and messages to William seeking some kind of reconciliation have faced a similar response of silence. This leaves little room for Catherine to bridge the gap when the brothers themselves show no interest in resolving things.

Kinsey Schofield, royal commentator and host of the podcast 'To Di For Daily,' also spoke to Fox News Digital about Catherine's shift away from peacemaker duties. Schofield claimed Catherine "had pursued peace over the past year" but that Harry and Meghan are simply "not on the Prince and Princess of Wales's radar at the moment." Understandably, after her health struggles, Catherine's main priorities lie with her family and the monarchy rather than the ongoing Sussex dispute.

Of course, the rift between the siblings has played out very publicly for years since Harry stepped back from royal duties alongside Meghan in 2020. The tell-all interviews only exacerbated the deep fractures and hurt feelings on both sides. However, as Anderson suggested, Catherine realizing the futility of continuing down the same failed path of mediation shows her growth and maturation. She recognizes when it is best to remove herself from toxic dynamics and wall off distractions that could undermine her position and duties as future Queen.

Catherine still cares for Harry as William's brother but cannot be expected to keep putting her own life and duties on hold indefinitely for some unrealistic hope of sudden reconciliation. Her role is to support William as heir to the throne above all else now. The Sussexes' actions make clear they have no interest in the royal family's approval or guidance either. So for Catherine, their entitled pursuits are seen as irrelevant distractions from her responsibilities alongside Charles and William. Her time is devoted to more positive goals that will shape the monarchy's future success rather than lost causes from the past.

While some may criticize Catherine for "giving up" on mending the rift, it is ultimately not her place or problem to solve single-handedly. She sought compromise for years to no avail. Even royals have a limit of what they can reasonably be expected to tolerate or fix. Prioritizing her health, family and service as Princess shows a new sense of pragmatism and strength from Catherine. The brothers must decide for themselves if they want to resolve their issues, without leverage from other family members trying in vain to please everyone. For now, all sides are focused inward on their own respective futures, with little roomleft for an erstwhile peacemaker's involvement.
