The arrival of the paperback edition of Prince Harry's memoir Spare in Australia has coincided with King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla's tour of the country and Samoa. However, the king and queen have requested that their engagements not involve any discussion of Harry or his book.

This week marks the launch of Spare in paperback format in the US and UK. The re-release is scheduled for October 22nd in the US and October 24th in the UK. This timing means the book will hit shelves just as Charles and Camilla wrap up their visit to Australia and travel to Samoa for the Commonwealth heads of government meeting.

Sources close to the king and queen indicate they are taking the book's release in stride and have asked for their tour to remain focused on their official duties rather than mention of Harry or Spare. A source said the memoir is of "little consequence" to the royal couple at this stage and they have "far more pressing matters" to attend to on the tour.

Charles is reportedly determined to ensure the success of the tour and views Harry's book as something that does not register on his agenda. While the paperback edition does not include any new revelations about the royal family, the coordinated timing has led to speculation it was planned to overshadow Charles and Camilla's visit.

In his memoir, Harry made claims about Camilla and recounted an alleged altercation with his brother William during which he said William broke his necklace and pushed him into a dog bowl. Harry also addressed tensions between his wife Meghan and Kate Middleton, including Kate's response to Meghan's comments about having "baby brain."

Despite ongoing cancer treatment, Charles has paused therapy to prioritize this crucial tour of Australia and Samoa. The visit marks his first trip overseas as monarch and first major foreign engagement since his diagnosis. The king's active participation in events underscores his commitment to royal duties as he looks beyond immediate health concerns.

In Sydney, Charles and Camilla received a warm welcome from enthusiastic crowds during their first public appearance at St Thomas Anglican Church on Sunday. The royal couple was met by the Archbishop of Sydney and schoolchildren waving Australian flags.

Camilla looked elegant in a pale green dress, receiving flowers from the minister's wife. She engaged in light conversation, smiling as she alluded to lingering jet lag from their flight to Australia. Inside the church, Charles and Camilla participated in signing two historic Bibles, including one from Australia's first minister.

After the service, Charles and Camilla spent time greeting well-wishers who had gathered outside. Some sung "God Save the King" as the royal couple shook hands and conversed with people welcoming their arrival. It marked the first opportunity for Sydneysiders to meet the monarch and queen consort since Friday's flight.

As part of their Sydney itinerary, Charles and Camilla took a trip across the iconic harbor. At New South Wales Parliament to commemorate its 200-year anniversary, Charles presented the lawmakers with a traditional hourglass and addressed the vital role of parliamentary democracy in strong societies.

"What a great joy it is to come to Australia for the first time as Sovereign," Charles said, underscoring his deep and lifelong connection to the nation he now serves as monarch. This historic visit underscores his commitment to duties while looking beyond immediate health matters.

Charles is also scheduled to participate in important Commonwealth discussions as head of the family of nations during the CHOGM in Samoa. Consistent with his environmental advocacy, the king made a notable donation to support a new skills program addressing climate change impacts in island countries of the Pacific region.

The initiative provides fellowships for mid-career professionals to further their education and develop skills leading communities facing challenges like rising seas and storms. It aims not only to equip individuals but retain local talent and foster sustainable futures.

"Throughout my life I believed in education's power to improve lives and unite communities across the Commonwealth and beyond," Charles stated. His words reflect personal dedication to causes championed for decades. By empowering leaders from vulnerable island states, Charles hopes to foster resilience and opportunity.

Through public engagements, political meetings and charitable announcements in Australia, the king demonstrates commitment to both the country and global issues. Each stop on the six-day tour strengthens Britain-Australia bonds and highlights shared Commonwealth values. As it continues, Charles and Camilla are affirming enduring public affection and respect for the monarchy across this region.
