As Prince William continues to pave the way for his future role as king, his vision for the British Monarchy is becoming more focused on transformative changes. Unlike politicians and governments who are at the mercy of Voters, the monarchy remains a permanent fixture of British life and has more time to figure out a plan to weather these storms. Commentators say William and Catherine have the public sympathy, and the prince could rely on a level of understanding that he will not be working at full capacity as he takes care of his family at the moment. This task would traditionally fall to Harry but as a non-working Royal, this cannot be the case for him now.

Those still hoping that Prince Harry and his wife could somehow work out their grievances with the British royal family will likely never see those wishes granted. When asked if there was a level of revenge at play when Charles III booted the Sussex family from Frogmore Cottage in June 2023, sources replied that the evidence is clear for everyone to see. He's been kicked out of the home that would have made it possible for him to come back on a regular basis. Given the Duke's current relationship with his family, we can't say he'd be too keen on taking the job anyway.
In this case, the Queen's daughter is the most likely person to be put into this role. Charles surely wouldn't want to break with president and give the task to his sister, the Princess Royal, who has been a pillar of support. Although it may be a great idea for the royal family, it's something that needs to be decided sooner rather than later because it requires an act of parliament to be executed.

Then there is Harry's relationship with Queen Elizabeth II, whom he infamously said has left "bodies in the street" in her ascent within the royal family. Sources close to the family reveal that Camilla is deeply anxious about her position and what it could mean for her future with the monarchy. Her fears have been exacerbated by whispers of potential change in royal protocol and the possible redefinition of her role once William becomes king. As the consort of a monarch, Camilla's status has always been one of support and dignity, but the shifting tides have raised questions about her place in the new era of royal governance.
Meanwhile, Harry would like to reconcile with King Charles, sources say, particularly given the latter's cancer diagnosis and treatment. However, when details of Harry's phone call to his dad to mark Charles's 75th birthday were leaked, royal relations were set back once more. To judge by the king's warm message today, it looks like he's giving Harry another chance. There is no doubt, however, that the conflict between the two has been exacerbated by Harry believing that Charles has the power to overturn the decision of the RAF to strip him of protection when traveling to the UK. Charles is adamant he does not, palace sources say.

The Sussex situation wasn't handled well by the powers that be, although Harry and Meghan have made everything exhaustingly difficult, seeing conspiracy at every turn, Buckingham Palace sources say. The palace would prefer that Harry and Meghan retire into quiet obscurity, and that's not going to happen - they are private citizens so they cannot be banned from going or not going anywhere. For now, sources told the paper Harry's calls and letters to his father go unanswered. Still, as the various messages on social media today show, hope springs eternal.

The UK is Harry's home - it's where he grew up, where his family and friends are, and where a lot of his interests lie. Someone who knows Harry well tells the paper the sense is there's a desire of some kind to reapproach. Clearly that will take time and patience. Let's just say there's hope that a more positive conversation can happen in the future.
