During a recent royal engagement in Wales, Prince William shared some delightful insights into his seven-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte's interests and hobbies. While visiting Anelli in South Wales on Tuesday, the Prince of Wales met with local students and revealed that like them, Charlotte enjoys performing and dancing.
William's day in Wales included a stop at Swiss Valley Community Primary School to meet with children participating in Eid Fawr, a week-long celebration of Welsh language and culture. There he spoke with 10-year-old Ruby Davies, who has been studying Welsh as a second language. Earlier this year, Ruby gained recognition for her passionate performance in the individual recital division of the eisteddfod.

The heir to the throne took time to praise Ruby's talents, telling her that Charlotte shares her love of performing. "Charlotte loves her performing and dancing as well so I'm going to show your video when I get home," William told Ruby. It's heartwarming to know that like many girls her age, the Princess enjoys expressing herself through dance and movement.
In addition to complimenting Ruby's recital video, William also revealed some sweet insights about his children's reactions. Ruby gifted the Prince friendship bracelets for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. "You'll see them around, they'll be thrilled with these," William said. However, he jokingly added that Louis might try to take all of Charlotte's gifts. "I'll have to keep them away from him," William laughed.

It was a lighthearted moment that gave a rare glimpse into William's relationship with his three children. As any parent knows, sibling rivalry can arise even over small gifts. The prince seemed relaxed and comfortable sharing these family anecdotes while conducting his royal duties in Wales.
During their conversation, Ruby admitted to William that she felt a bit nervous performing at the eisteddfod but was mostly excited. He praised her impressive recital, telling Ruby "you performed really well and you didn't seem nervous at all." The prince's encouragement clearly meant a lot coming from someone in his position. However, William interacted with Ruby and the other students in an effortless, down-to-earth way.

The visit highlighted Wales' rich culture of celebrating their heritage through the Welsh language. As Commander of the Royal Air Force, William no doubt appreciates the pride and sense of identity people feel in their homeland. He told Ruby, "it was very impressive" that she was studying Welsh as a second language. While joking he would need lessons to learn the language himself, William's interest came across as sincere.
This glimpse into William's family life with Charlotte, George and Louis added a sense of relatability during the public engagement. As future King, William represents tradition but seems determined to stay grounded. Now almost 40, he embraces his role promoting causes important to the Welsh people. But he also aims to be an approachable father figure, sharing the realities of raising active children even as royals.

Charlotte's love of dance aligns with her mother Kate Middleton's similar interests as a girl. Both studied ballet and clearly aim to nurture their daughter's creativity and self-expression. The brief family anecdotes offered a rare, lighthearted look behind palace walls. They showed William and Kate balance raising their children normally with carrying out duties befitting their royal position.
In speaking with Ruby and the other students, William demonstrated respect for Welsh heritage and culture. His encouragement of their language skills highlighted the importance placed on diversity and community. The visit reinforced Wales' significance within the UK and the bond between its people and the monarchy. While duties brought William to South Wales that day, interactions like meeting Ruby clearly left a positive impression on both participant and observer.
