All eyes will be on her and of course on the sparkling tiaras and jewels she will wear with unparalleled elegance. There are signs that Princess Katherine of Wales is slowly returning to work, including some telling details that reveal a stunning new strategy.
Decking the halls of Westminster Abbey in London, England was reportedly on the agenda when Katherine held a planning meeting on September 24th, 2024. The most obvious interpretation of this meeting was that it is a nice, clear sign that the princess is on the road back to normal after a year that has upended the monarchy and dumped it on its soft head.

There is a strong argument to be made that the royal family has always been in the entertainment business. Typically, she was spotted at Westminster Abbey in early December to tape her annual Christmas concert, suggesting she could very well be there alongside Prince William and their children as she's done in years past.
On a more promising note, ITV has cleared the space in their programming schedule and has no plans to replace it with anything else yet. Palace aides have said they will check in weekly with any updates that they can assist with, or simply take the pressure off as they wait to see if Katherine's carols at Christmas will finally bring some normality back to what's been a traumatic year for the British royal family and for their subjects, the Commonwealth, and the rest of the world.

It goes without saying that with this week's news, clearly the princess appears to be on the up and up. However, what comes next for the 42-year-old could see her public appearances remain at a fraction of what they used to be, with no foreseeable return to anywhere near the degree of public visibility and level of real world engagements we have been used to.
Aside from the most poisonous corners of Twitter, we as the public should give Katherine support. Let's consider what we actually do know about what the next few months hold for the popular Princess as she continues her recovery. As one of the most popular Royals on record, the princess shouldn't be pushed back into work before she's ready by the pressures of the House of Windsor or public expectations.

While we have obviously seen much less of Katherine this year as she focused on her health, we have also never had a year where she has so frequently and so directly communicated with the public. In just the last 6 months, she has recorded two lengthy videos, commissioned a new portrait, penned an unheard of personal statement, and put out several cause-related social media messages finished with her "C" sign off.
What has become apparent this year is a covert redirection of The Prince and Princess of Wales' energies and the pronounced shift in their communication strategy. We the public have understood, we waited, and we have been patient. In this scenario, there would still be some real world outings in her program but what we could also be seeing as her in-person engagements drop off is a marked spike in her social media presence.

We could see far more offerings like not only her cancer-related videos but also like the nearly 2-minute polished and professional clip put out by the palace's office last December of she and her three young children visiting a baby bank. Such a video allowed Katherine to simultaneously highlight a deserving organization’s amazing work while indulging in some really top-notch royal family branding.
The princess has carefully consulted with her doctors throughout her cancer fight and recovery. Her trust in them was evident in messages the Royal posted to social media where she shared news about her health. There appears to be a clear understanding between the palace and her team that pushing Katherine to a regular schedule of meetings and appearances would be counterproductive to her health.

It will be a slow adjustment to getting back to her duties, and we mustn't expect anything mammoth overnight. We shouldn't be pushing her and she certainly shouldn't be pushing herself to keep people happy that she is coming back. She will do it gradually and in her time. She's not out of the woods yet, and you must allow her to pace herself. It's not just about her or the monarchy or the United Kingdom - it is about her family as well.
