"Embarrassed" Secret tapes of Meghan Markle being asked about royal suicide bid released by CBS

Breaking news this week - CBS has released secret tapes from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey from last year. As many will recall, this was the bombshell interview where Harry and Meghan made a number of shocking claims about their experience as senior royals.

In the newly released clips, journalist Jane Pauley directly asks Meghan some very tough questions about her mental health struggles during her time in the royal family. Pauley asked Meghan point blank if it was true that she had thoughts of suicide and contemplated taking her own life while pregnant with Archie. Meghan confirmed this was indeed the case.

What's most striking about the clip is Harry's reaction. He appears incredibly uncomfortable, grimacing as Meghan discusses this painful period. One can only imagine how furious Harry must have felt in that moment, as this was clearly a private matter they did not want to reopen. Releasing these tapes now seems deliberately exploitive by CBS, pouring salt in fresh wounds for the Sussexes after a difficult year.

The release of these clips comes after a scathing exposé in The Hollywood Reporter last month, where unnamed sources described Meghan as a "dictator in high heels" who made male staffers cry. Harry and Meghan denied these allegations, claiming most of their current staff work remotely in California rather than at their Montecito mansion.

However, The Hollywood Reporter is standing by its story, citing interviews with 12 former staffers. It seems highly implausible they would publish such a damaging piece without thoroughly vetting their sources. The fact Meghan and Harry have threatened legal action also suggests The Hollywood Reporter is confident in their reporting.

Of course, the alleged victims of Meghan's bullying cannot speak out due to strict non-disclosure agreements and Britain's Official Secrets Act. So while Meghan can publicly deny any wrongdoing, her accusers have no way to defend themselves or support the claims against her. An ever-growing "Sussex Survivors Club" of around 40 former staffers cannot tell their side of the story.

All this adds further fuel to the ongoing debate around Harry and Meghan's credibility following last year's Oprah interview. Many remain skeptical of their versions of events, particularly as they continue to bring unwanted attention to private matters like Meghan's mental health without giving the full context.

Part of the problem is Harry's ongoing exploitation of his late mother Princess Diana's memory and legacy for publicity. In a recent video, he claimed Diana would be "incredibly proud" of two young activists - but as one email wrote in, "how dare he keep using Diana to garner favor with Americans?" Given Diana passed over 15 years ago, Harry has no idea what she truly thought on such issues.

Back in Britain, the rest of the royal family continues working quietly. Catherine made her first public appearance since visiting her new niece Lilibet, speaking passionately about early childhood development. Meanwhile Prince William received praise after traveling to Scotland to support a homeless project.

Some criticized Camilla for wearing jeans recently, though she changed into something more appropriate in the evening. And while reports say King Charles wants Andrew and Fergie out of their lavish Royal Lodge home due to disrepair, Fergie will reportedly stay living there with Andrew.

So in summary, another chaotic week around the Sussexes with more questions raised than answered. With ongoing legal threats and a inability to address the multiple damaging claims directly, their popularity continues declining as that of the steadier Windsor clan grows at home and abroad.
