Royal Rift Deepens as William and Charles Ignore Harry's Calls for Help
Sources close to the British royal family have revealed growing tensions between Prince Harry and his brother Prince William as well as his father King Charles III. According to an exclusive report in People magazine, while Harry has been trying to reach out to both William and Charles, his calls, texts and messages have gone unanswered.
A royal insider speaking on condition of anonymity shared that the rift between Harry and William is very bad. However, they maintain that the relationship is not beyond repair. When Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September, the brothers came together to view flowers and tributes left in her honor, presenting a united front. However, in private it seems the brothers remain distant.

Harry has been embroiled in an ongoing legal battle regarding his security situation since stepping back from royal duties and moving to the US with his family. While in the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and funeral events, Harry's security was compromised as he did not have armed police protection. He offered to pay for police security himself but was denied in the courts. Harry feels very concerned for the safety of his wife Meghan Markle and their two children - Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1 - and wants his father King Charles' help in resolving the security issues.
Sources say that earlier this year when King Charles was diagnosed with COVID-19, Harry tried repeatedly to contact both his father and brother to check on the King's health. However, his calls went unanswered. An insider shared that Harry finds the situation frustrating, as his father is the only one who can intervene to ensure Harry and his family receive the security protection they need. Harry remains determined to protect his family and sees securing adequate security as a top priority.

The decision to deny Harry police protection lies with the UK government's executive committee for the protection of royalty and public figures, rather than the King directly. However, as monarch, Charles could advocate on Harry's behalf. Harry has even offered to personally pay for the security, but that offer has also been denied in court. The ongoing security issues have left Harry feeling that if he does not speak publicly about his concerns, he will not have the means to pay for private security either.
Some close to Buckingham Palace suggest that Harry's upcoming memoir, as well as interviews with Oprah Winfrey and others, have damaged the royal family's trust in him. However, sources close to Harry counter that if the security situation was resolved, he would not need to publicly address these issues to pay his bills. A friend of Harry's shared that resolving the security debate would allow Harry to focus on rebuilding his relationship with his father.

With both Harry and William seemingly entrenched in their stances and unwilling to communicate, any hopes of reconciliation appear distant. As the reign of King Charles III begins and the line of succession solidifies William as the future king, the family rift threatens to grow deeper - leaving a once close brotherly bond damaged perhaps beyond repair. Only time will tell if the brothers can put aside their differences to repair their relationship.
