Princess Kate of Wales is currently enjoying her summer vacation with Prince William and their three children. However, royal experts say she is also quietly preparing for what will likely become her most important role yet - supporting Prince George as he prepares to take the throne in the future.
Eight-year-old Prince George is currently second in line to the British throne after his father Prince William. At some point, likely decades from now, George will assume the duties of King when Queen Elizabeth II eventually passes away. The world today is vastly different from when the Queen took the throne over 70 years ago. Royal historian and author Robert Jobson believes respect for the monarchy may deteriorate significantly by the time George becomes King.

"When Queen Elizabeth came to the throne, there was a real sense that she had been appointed by God. It was a much more Christian society with more structure and clearly defined social classes. The middle and working classes had great respect for the royal family. I'm not convinced that level of respect will still exist in 30 or 40 years time," Jobson told GB News' Royal Report podcast.
The world has changed rapidly in recent decades and will continue evolving on many fronts like technology, politics, and social values. Jobson says George will inherit a "very different image" of the monarchy than what the Queen and past kings experienced. This is where Kate is expected to play her most pivotal guiding role as George prepares for his future responsibilities.
"I think that's why it's so important that Kate is there to help and support George through it all. She seems to have recognized this as one of, if not the most important roles she will undertake as Princess of Wales," Jobson commented.

Having a stable, loving family background herself I'm sure she will want to provide that rock-solid foundation for George as he prepares for kingship," he said.
