Sources are reporting that the Prince of Wales has placed an absolute ban on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returning to the fold of the royal family in any capacity. Royal insiders say that William has stepped firmly into the role of head of the family now that his grandmother Queen Elizabeth has passed. It was traditionally Prince Philip who acted as the disciplinarian and enforcer of rules for the royals. However, with Philip's passing in 2021, that mantle has been assumed by William. "There is a sense that William has stepped into the Prince Philip role. Philip ruled the family with a rod of iron and now William is calling the shots when it comes to family discipline," a source told The Daily Beast.

The source went on to say that William is presenting his new leadership through an "absolute ban" on Harry having any involvement with the family going forward. This ban would presumably extend to include Megan as well, as the couple work as a unit in all of their dealings and media projects. It seems William has had enough of the antics and public criticisms of the monarchy by Harry and Megan over the past few years.
Some experts believe this schism between the brothers may be permanent. If rumors are to be believed, Harry does not think he will be welcomed back into the UK or royal circle with open arms even if he and Megan were to divorce in future.
