MONEY and FAME at STAKE! Meghan pretended to come next to Catherine and whispered "SORRY"

The relationship between Princess Catherine and Meghan Markle has certainly been tumultuous. Ever since Meghan joined the royal family, it seems there has been tension between the two high-profile duchesses. While Catherine has maintained an unprecedented level of dignity, grace and decorum in her royal role, Meghan has often bucked tradition and ruffled feathers with her supposedly modern approach. Their differing styles and apparent clash of personalities have played out on the public stage, much to the fascination of royal watchers worldwide.

It was reported early on that Meghan made Catherine cry over her daughter's bridesmaid dresses before her wedding to Prince Harry. However, later revelations indicated it may have in fact been the other way around. Either way, it highlighted difficulties between the two women. Since then, further rumors of rifts have circulated. They include Meghan bullying staff members and wielding an "diva-like" attitude that did not mesh well with life in The Firm. By many accounts, Catherine represents the more classic ideal of a royal whereas Meghan embraced her Hollywood roots and pushed boundaries, sometimes to the dismay of palace traditionalists.

Now, as Meghan faces plummeting popularity in the UK, especially among senior demographics, she is apparently hoping to reconcile with Catherine. However, her Olive Branch comes across less as a genuine act of remorse but more a calculated attempt to revive her public image. While she expressed public support for Catherine during her recent health battles, the undercurrent of past tension remains. Catherine is immersed in her duties as Princess of Wales and supporting her family through difficult times. Rekindling friendship with the controversial Meghan is unlikely to be a priority.

It is undeniable that Meghan brought a breath of fresh air to the monarchy when she first joined as Harry's bride. Her biracial background, charisma and Hollywood glamour were welcomed with open arms by many. However, her interactions with the press and behavior behind palace walls burned through goodwill at a startling pace. Stories emerged alleging that her demands and “diva-like" behavior caused immense turmoil among staff. She quickly acquired a reputation for being difficult and disrespectful of protocol.

In particular, her ongoing public feuding with members of her own family, including her father Thomas Markle, painted an unflattering picture that was unheard of for a royal. This went against Catherine's model of discretion and preferring to keep family matters private. Allegations of Meghan bullying Palace staff members only cemented the idea that she failed to adapt to life as a senior royal, instead attempting to bend the institution to her own will and whims. Unlike Catherine, she seemed unwilling or unable to fulfill duties with the utmost decorum and respect for tradition.

Now as her post-royal ventures in America struggle and popularity nosedives, especially among the older generations who value tradition, Meghan seemingly hopes to find an inroad back into royal favor through seeking peace with Catherine. However, this looks less like a genuine reckoning and more a desperate PR move. There is little reason to believe Catherine would entertain further drama, especially now as she focuses on healing from cancer treatment. The duchess has more important priorities than Meghan's latest headline-chasing move.

Catherine has consistently served as a model royal, dedicated to duty, charities and her family above all else. She has navigated immense public scrutiny and responsibility with poise. Through her cancer battle and other challenges, Catherine has proven herself a pillar of strength and decorum for the British people and Commonwealth. By comparison, Meghan comes across as an attention-seeking social climber most concerned with relevancy and popularity. Her shocking interviews and constant “truth-bombing" have eroded trust and goodwill within the palace and among the public.

While the exact details of disputes between the two Catherine and Meghan may never be clear, what is evident is that their styles could scarcely be more different. One has shown herself a consummate royal, the other an unpredictable Hollywood interloper. Returning to the fold through a charm offensive seems unlikely to repair the broken bonds or trust. Both Catherine and the monarchy have moved forward focusing on duty, and left little room for Meghan's endless distractions and interpersonal drama. The olive branch appears self-serving and far too little, too late.
