Three-year-old Prince Louis has noticeably been absent from some major royal events recently where his older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte have attended. However, there is method behind this, according to royal experts who say it is all part of Princess Kate's strategic planning for her children's introduction to public life.

While George, 9, and Charlotte, 7, have had the privilege of joining their parents Prince William and Kate at significant sporting occasions like the Commonwealth Games, Louis has remained at home. Lizzie Robinson, a producer at ITV News Royal, explained that Kate and William assess each event individually to determine what is appropriate for each child's age and stage of development.

"The couple have been very measured and meticulous in terms of working out what is best for their children and when the right time is to start joining family members at occasions," Robinson said. "So it's only a matter of time before we start to see more of Louis at events."

On the most recent occasion of Trooping the Colour for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Louis stole the show with his delightful antics in the carriage ride to Buckingham Palace. The then-four year old danced, played with window blinds, and pulled funny faces to entertain his siblings and mother on the journey.

However, there was one heart-stopping moment when Louis stumbled on the palace steps but quickly recovered and continued waving excitedly to the crowds. His exuberant personality shone through but also showed he is still young and learning.

Kate and the children later appeared on the palace balcony to observe the flypast, with Louis pointing excitedly at the aircraft. But it is clear from his occasional yawning and need for distraction that full events may still be challenging at his age.

While George and Charlotte accompanied their parents to the men's final at Wimbledon in July, this was likely judged by Kate as a more controlled, enjoyable outing for Charlottte during the school summer holidays. It also marked her mother's second public appearance since overcoming breast cancer.

Charlotte gazed adoringly at Kate, surely aware of the challenges she had endured with her illness. The day would have been a reward for both of them after the darkness of Kate's diagnosis and treatment the previous year.

In a moving personal reflection, Kate candidly shared about her experience with cancer - the days of light and days of shadow, and times when weariness and fragility took over versus days of vitality and a desire to seize wellness.

She has undoubtedly applied the same meticulous strategy to her children's introduction to royal duties, gradually easing Louis into larger events as he grows while also cherishing quality time with each child individually.

Fans will no doubt continue seeing more of the Cambridges together at selected outings, with Louis joining in when he and his devoted mother feel the time is right. Kate's priority clearly remains the happiness and development of her young family above all public duties
