Welcome back fellow political junkies! It's your boy Ben here with what might be the wildest political saga yet – did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle really just endorse a US presidential candidate? Buckle up folks, because this one is going to be a bumpy ride from Buckingham Palace to the White House.

As we all know, it's election season in the good ol' USA. Campaign slogans and attack ads are flying left and right as tensions ramp up ahead of November. Out of nowhere, none other than exile royals Harry and Meghan decide to wade into the fray. While celebrity endorsements are usually a sought-after prize for any politician, it seems Kamala Harris wants nothing to do with the support of the Duke and Duchess of Sus-sex.

Let's rewind to 2020 – Meghan was gushing over Harris' historic VP run, excited at the prospect of a woman of color in such a high office. Fast forward to now, and it appears the Sussexes have seriously overstepped by getting involved in American politics. Their Archewell Foundation put out a well-meaning but tone deaf statement about voting rights and civic responsibility. Then came the bombshell – they actually said they were rooting for Kamala, as though she and the disgraced royals were peers!

Now listen, we all know Meghan loves nothing more than some good publicity. But Harry has been her hapless co-star, following her lead without a care for consequences. This time though, they may have taken it too far. Comparing Kamala to the Sussexes is about as helpful as comparing a Nobel laureate to famous YouTubers – it just doesn't track. Unsurprisingly, word on the street is Harris is furious and has shut down their meddling once and for all. Can you imagine that phone call? Kamala was likely seething, telling them in no uncertain terms to back off her campaign. And who could blame her?

While Harry and Meghan are content playing political footsie from overseas, they seem to have forgotten one key detail – they aren't American citizens! Last I checked, Harry was as British as fish and chips. Meghan has been away from America for years now. So who do they think they are trying to sway the election? It's like me opining on cricket matches – I can have opinions, but at the end of the day I'm just watching from the sidelines.

Not to mention, Donald Trump has already expressed displeasure with Prince Harry over visa issues related to his LA move. Can you imagine if Trump actually tried deporting a royal in retaliation? It would be like 1776 all over again, but with more Twitter drama. Oh, and amidst all this, someone reportedly tried to assassinate Trump while golfing – though I'm certainly not suggesting the Sussexes had anything to do with that!

In my view, Meghan has had her sights set on higher offices for a while now. First it was benevolent speeches about empowerment. Then vague statements about voting and representation. Soon she'll be openly flirting with a presidential run of her own – does anyone doubt that? And poor Harry, forever her coattail-riding plus-one, will be there grinning through it all. Can you picture them at state dinners, with Harry bumbling to explain the rules of cricket to foreign dignitaries while Meghan negotiates trade deals? It writes itself!

Yet amongst all the political machination, an important truth gets lost. Harry and Meghan left Britain with a mandate for change – to focus on the serious issues like mental health, poverty, the environment. Instead they've gotten tangled in optics and controversy at every turn. It's like they've forgotten the first rule of public life: you can't please everyone, but you certainly can annoy them.

So what now? Will the Sussexes back down in the face of Kamala's justified anger? Or double down against her warnings? And what if Donald Trump actually does make good on his threats against Harry? One thing's for sure – this dramatic saga is far from over. Harry and Meghan seem allergic to staying out of the headlines. It's compelling like a terrifying car crash; you just can't look away.

My advice to the Sussexes: take a step back. Remember why you left Britain – was it really to be political puppeteers? Or was it to find purpose and privacy for your family? There's a whole world of good you could do without toeing party lines. As for Kamala, stand your ground - you don't need online influences muddying the true issues. And to the rest of us? Grab the popcorn - this election season is shaping up to be TV gold, no matter who wins in November. Let's check back in for the next dramatic twist in the never-ending royal-political soap opera! Until then, thanks as always for tuning in fellow junkies.
