Princess Catherine has been out and about lately with a sixth family member that has captured the hearts of Royal fans - an adorable Cocker Spaniel. This recent photo of Catherine out for a walk with her Cocker Spaniel is further proof that the Royal mum of three is doing just fine in her recovery from a secret bout of illness earlier this year.

One of the more charming details visible in Catherine's recent photos and videos is the presence of two dogs. A black English Cocker Spaniel named Nala makes frequent appearances, having been a gift to Catherine from her brother James Middleton when his dog had puppies in 2020. The second dog, a brown spaniel named Ora, belongs to James but often accompanies the Cambridges on outings. These pets were quietly in the background of Catherine's recent cancer update video, but their appearance added a layer of warmth and normalcy to the family setting.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have owned two black cocker spaniels over the years. The first, Lup, sadly passed away in 2020. Their current pup, Ora, was given to the couple by James before Lup's death. However, Ora has been seen out in the public on very few occasions until she appeared resting comfortably in Catherine's cancer update video from September 9th. Though she seldom appears on royal outings, Ora does have a rather regal name - her beautiful name translates from Gaelic to mean "Golden Princess."

Ora also made a cameo in photos taken by Catherine to mark Princess Charlotte's seventh birthday in May of this year. Prince William and James Middleton bonded deeply over their shared love of dogs from a young age. As a child, William had a beloved black labrador named Tidgy. The loss of Tidgy left a hole in William's heart that was eventually filled by Lup, Catherine's cocker spaniel, who became an important member of the Cambridge family.

During her recent pregnancy, the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted taking Lup for a walk in London's Hyde Park with her friend Trinny Woodall. Catherine looked casually stylish in her LK Bennett Darwin jacket, Hunter Wellies, and skinny jeans - a relaxed look befitting her condition at the time. This public outing signified Catherine's marked recovery from the difficult bout of hyperemesis gravidarum that affected her prior pregnancies. Despite her struggles, Middleton managed to undertake an eight-hour flight to join William on a "babymoon" vacation in the Caribbean just a month prior. Such a journey would have seemed unthinkable during the peaks of her illness.

Some royal traditionalists have objected to the more intimate nature of the recent video shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales documenting Catherine's cancer ordeal and recovery. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams pointed out that sharing a personal video allows the Waleses to connect with the public on a deeper, more personal level compared to a formal statement. However, others argue it is inappropriate to showcase overt displays of closeness and affection, as this level of intimacy is not typically shared by senior royal family members.

Catherine's closeness with William is palpable throughout the video. In one scene, they are filmed relaxing side by side on the beach, with Catherine's arm draped affectionately over her husband's shoulder. Another tender moment shows William gently stroking Catherine's hand as she bravely discusses her cancer experience. For many observers, this gave an unprecedented glimpse into their personal relationship that has not been seen from the royal family until now. As Catherine says in the video's narration, this difficult year has reminded her and William to be grateful for life's simple but important pleasures, especially love.

While some criticisms have centered around the more casual attire and affectionate embraces shown between the future King and Queen, overall the reaction seems to have validated Catherine and William's decision to share this personal insight. Their video tribute highlighted the support they found in each other and their young family throughout Catherine's health struggles. For most, it simply conveyed the profound human experiences of overcoming adversity through love, strength, and gratitude - universally shared values that continue to endear this royal couple to the hearts of their people.
