It has been over 25 years since Princess Diana tragically passed away in a car crash in Paris, but her memory lives on through her two sons Prince William and Prince Harry. At the time of her death, William was just 15 years old while Harry was only 12. They have both spoken openly about how important it is to keep their mother's legacy alive, especially for their own children who never had the chance to meet their beloved grandmother.

While Diana's death had a profound impact on both princes in their youth, they have each found meaningful ways to honor her memory as adults and parents. William has stated that it is crucial for his and Kate's three children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis - to know who Diana was and the important role she played. All the Cambridge children are well aware of their beloved "Granny Diana", as they know her.

In a touching gesture, Kate recently opened up about how William has taken their kids to visit Diana's final resting place at Althorp estate in Northamptonshire on the anniversary of her death. As the 27th anniversary approaches later this month, it's believed William and Kate once again took George, Charlotte, and Louis to the family plot to pay respects to Diana. These memorial visits must be deeply poignant for the Cambridge children, even if they are still quite young.

Kate ensures Diana's memory remains alive for her children, especially on important dates like her birthday or the August 31st anniversary of the car crash. While Carol Middleton fills the grandmother role in their lives, she has made it clear Diana existed and was a central figure for their father. Sadly, none of the Cambridge children nor Kate herself had the chance to meet Diana. But Kate has said if she could, she would have loved to know the woman who captured Prince William's heart.

Despite the passage of time, William and Kate continue finding ways to thoughtfully incorporate memories of Diana into their everyday family life. One tradition they've established is having George, Charlotte, and Louis create handmade cards each year to honor Granny Diana. These personalized tributes, often featuring drawings and messages, allow the children to express love and admiration for the grandmother they never knew.

Princess Diana was laid to rest at Althorp estate, the Spencer family home in Northamptonshire. Her burial site sits on an island next to an ornamental lake called The Oval, accessible only by boat. While off-limits to the public, the plot remains open for visits by royal family members wishing to pay respects.

In 2001, Diana's brother Charles Spencer publicly called out Prince Charles for never visiting Diana's grave, saying the invitation stood open. Palace sources would not confirm if Charles has visited since, maintaining it is a private matter. Harry's recent low-profile trip to attend a memorial for Lord Fellowes in Norfolk fueled further speculation about his relationship with the family he left behind in the UK.

While Harry and William were both in attendance at the service near Sandringham, they reportedly did not interact and chose to sit separately in the church, underscoring tensions remain. However, Harry staying with Charles Spencer at Althorp, so close to Diana's final resting place, suggests the brother's attachment to their mother's side of the family endures.

For both William and Harry, honoring their mother's memory and legacy clearly remains of paramount importance decades on. While their relationship with one another has faced challenges, their shared bond over Diana and commitment to upholding her values appears undiminished by time or distance. Through visits to her grave, openly discussing Diana with their own children, and finding ways to creatively celebrate her life each anniversary, both princes continue ensuring she remains vibrantly remembered and alive in spirit for generations to come.
