As the sole princess of my kingdom, the decisions and responsibilities that fall to me are immense. Today was no different, as I met with Prince Harry to discuss his request for royal family support in fighting the British press.
Harry arrived at the palace visibly agitated. "Cousin, you must use your influence to help curb these tabloid lies," he pleaded. "The things they print about me and Meghan are intolerable. We cannot sit idly by as they destroy our lives and mental health."
I understood Harry's frustrations all too well. Like him, I have been subjected to gossip and rumor in the pages of those papers. Their tactics are underhanded and cruel. However, rallying the entire royal family against the press would set a troubling precedent and likely make the situation much worse.

"Harry, while I sympathize with your plight, we cannot engage in an all-out war with the media," I said gently. "That would be playing into their hands and make us appear thin-skinned and authoritarian. There are better approaches that don't compromise our integrity or fuel further hostility."
Harry looked ready to argue, but held his tongue. I pressed on. "Have you considered legal action for specific untrue stories, as William has done? Filing complaints that challenge falsities without threatening free speech?"
Harry shook his head. "It's no use. They'll just find another way to smear us. The damage is already done." He sighed wearily. "Maybe it's for the best if Meghan and I just cut all ties to this toxic place. We're clearly not wanted or supported here."

My heart went out to my cousin, who looked utterly lost and alone in that moment. But I stood firm, for both our sakes. "Harry, running away and lashing out will solve nothing. It will only feed the narrative that you seek attention and controversy."
I took his hands in mine. "Stay and fight the good fight. Use your platform to champion causes of meaning, not petty vendettas. Prove through dignity and compassion that their words cannot touch your spirit or define your character. In time, the truth will out, and the people will see."
Harry gazed out the window, lost in thought. Finally, he turned to me. "You're right, as always. I'll reconsider my approach. But I make no promises about the family. After everything said about Meghan..." He trailed off.

I nodded solemnly. "The past cannot be changed, only the future. But I hope in time, when the dust settles, you both may find it in your hearts to forgive." Harry offered a melancholy smile before taking his leave.
I watched him go, feeling the weight of his sadness but also believing reconciliation was still possible, if given room and grace to heal. Harry had always worn his heart on his sleeve; it was both his weakness and his strength. Now more than ever, he needed steadfast allies, not adversaries - including within his own bloodline. The way forward was through compassion, not conflict. If hatred was the disease, love was the cure.
In the days that followed, I kept a close eye on news regarding Harry and Meghan. To my relief, they had taken my counsel and filed formal complaints against several inaccurate articles. While the press predictably denied wrongdoing, it was a measured, lawful approach versus reckless retaliation.
Through reliable sources, I also learned Prince William had reached out privately to his brother after their last meeting, expressing his support. It seemed seeds of understanding were being planted behind closed doors, away from prying lenses that sought only to provoke and divide.

This gave me hope their familial bond, though fractured, was not beyond repair. With time and goodwill on all sides, even the deepest of wounds could heal. As for the rumormongers and fear-mongers, their relevance relied on stoking division. United, the House of Windsor was indomitable. With care, compassion and conviction of purpose, they would endure.
As for Harry, I believed his fighting spirit would be better spent championing causes close to his heart, not nursing old grievances. By focusing outward, he might find inner peace and new purpose - and remind the world that he was so much more than a man haunted by his past or defined by tabloid trifles. He possessed a gift for connecting with people and inspiring hope. If he embraced that, darkness could not prevail.
In the storms yet to come, I prayed they all remember that, as royalty, our true power lies not in status or spectacle, but in standing as symbols of dignity, grace and compassion for all.
