The Reason Kate Did Not Want Her Children to Visit Her in the Hospital Revealed

Princess Catherine, the Princess of Wales, recently spent 13 days at the private London Clinic recovering from abdominal surgery. While her husband Prince William visited her multiple times, noticeably absent were the couple’s three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

As reported by Mirror, Royal expert Ingrid Seward speculated that Kate purposefully did not want the children to visit. “I don’t think she wanted to make more of a big thing of it than it already was,” Seward told PEOPLE magazine. “They’ll be rallying 'round in their own way and helping to look after her.”

Though it was likely a personal choice, hospitals also generally do not allow child visitors without special permission due to infection control policies. The London Clinic website states: “Any special requests for children to visit must be approved by the Matrons. If approved...children must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will look after them throughout the visit.”

So while the Wales children did not physically visit, the family stayed connected through video calls. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said that Kate was making “good progress” in her recovery. “The prince and princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.”

After being discharged on Monday, Kate returned to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor where she was reunited with George, Charlotte, and Louis. She will continue her recovery at home until after Easter.

Though the palace has not disclosed specifics about Kate’s medical condition, they confirmed it is non-cancerous. She underwent abdominal surgery on January 16th to treat an underlying health issue that was causing her pain.

Some royal experts predict Kate may go stay with her parents Carole and Michael Middleton while she finishes recuperating. Royal author Michael Cole told GB News: “I think the chances are that she will go to stay with mum and dad, Carole and Michael Middleton, in Berkshire in order to recuperate in peace and quiet away from the goldfish bowl that is Kensington Palace.”

Meanwhile, Prince William is expected to resume his official royal duties now that Kate is settled back at home. The princess’ own return to duties “will depend on medical advice closer to the time,” according to palace sources.

The past few weeks have been an adjustment for the Wales family. William has taken time off engagements, while also making visits to the hospital. At home, George, Charlotte, and Louis have had to go without their mother while she underwent treatment.

Ingrid Seward commended William’s commitment to Kate during this difficult period: “William has been brilliant. He will have made sure that he spent a lot of time with the children making it as normal as possible for them.”

Though upsetting for the children, Seward believes Kate made the choice not to have them visit her in the hospital to shield them from further distress. “Catherine will have missed them desperately but knows that as a mother your children always come first and so her health was paramount to get right,” she said.

Now that Kate is back under the same roof as her family, the Wales clan can focus on her making a full recovery. They appreciate the outpouring of well-wishes they have received from royal fans all over the world.

For now, Kate plans to take things easy while regaining her strength. Once given the all-clear by her medical team, she will then decide when to resume her busy schedule of royal duties. After this health scare, she is likely looking forward to getting back to supporting her patronages and charities.
